Photo Session Location Ideas Pt.1

Being an outdoor photographer means have plenty of possiblities with location. Today I want to talk about some of the area locations around Creston and Afton. Now some may be over used by photographers, but I can promise that some will never truely over used if a photographer can be creative at each location!

-Creston Iowa Photo Session Locations-

1) Creston Historical Complex and McKinley Park

For those who are not from Creston, this complex and park is located on the west side of Creston. It has many possiblities from an old barn, farm house, old church, a caboose to an small log cabin and etc. There is also a spill over from the lake which is perfect for those days that the lake is still. It is always well kept and easy to get to.

2) The Alley Behind Adams Street Expresso

This is a hidden gem that has many possibilities. In this alley way, there are rustic metal doors, fire escape stairs, and beautiful brick walls. Perfect for a modern or industrial feel for photographs!

3) Downtown Creston

Downtown holds the Restored Depot, an old Iowa State Savings Bank that now houses the Upper Crust, and many more buildings. Inside the Depot, there is waiting benches and even a model train set! Believe it or not, simple photographs on the sidewalk are also the best!

4) Maple Street Memories

This is the restored post office. It has a beautiful facsade in the front with towerin pillars and gorgeous street lamps. In the back, there is an art deco styled railing and an equally interesting door!

5) Creston High School

The high school is perfect for senior portraits. That is a no brainer! Whether a senior is in a field sport, band, color guard, or just a spectator, the football field is a wonderful location. There is also the baseball fields!

6) Green Valley Park and Lake

The park and lake is located north of Creston. It has a small beach, playground, docks, and etc. Around the lake, there is benches that would be just right to get an amazing photograph. The possibilities is endles here. The park could also be optimal for photographs with vehicles.

-Afton Iowa Photo Session Locations_

1) Downtown Afton

Located in the heart of this little town, around the block there is many unique buildings with interesting doorways. In the middle is a quant little park.

2) Three Mile Lake

Yet another gorgeous lake that is located north of Afton. It has a wonderful sandy beach and docks. There are a few rock out cropping around the lake that create perfect opprotunities for fun photographs. Perfect for a camping, fishing, or boating family!

3) East Union High School

The High School offers a scene that has a small town feel. As any high school does, it has a football field and baseball field.Seniors can also have their photographs taken near the football field statium with their vehicles. (Perfect for the boys who take pride in their ride!)

I know that there are probably more locations in these areas that I have yet to discover. But these nine locations are all good places. They are all easy to locate too! If any client has any other ideas for their photo shoot location, always feel free to suggest it! Remember it is YOUR photo shoot!
